Citizen science refers to cooperation between researchers and volunteers in the process of answering scientific problems. Volunteers can make a big contribution to scientific research, especially in the phase of gathering data that would be difficult or almost impossible to collect otherwise. In return, researchers go to great lengths to educate their volunteers, make them a part of the team, or even encourage them to publicly present the results of the study.
A volunteer at the Centre for Behavioral Genetics is anyone who wants to do their part in scientific progress, learn something more about the way genetics and the environment affect our behavior, and have fun through participating in science-popularizing activities.
Volunteers at the Centre for Behavioral Genetics can take part in the popularization of scientific research, recruit participants for studies, help formulate additional research topics, or participate in the processing of results and presenting them to the public.
Every volunteer that actively participates in the promotion of research done by the Centre for Behavioral Genetics, recruits participants for our studies, and helps popularize scientific results receives a volunteer badge. The Centre for Behavioral Genetics awards badges after a study is completed.
Certificate of volunteering in the twin study
A certificate of volunteering in the twin study is awarded to each volunteer that provides the Twin Register with 10 pairs of twins’ contact information, with their or parents’ consent if they’re minors to participate in the study. The Centre for Behavioral Genetics awards the certificates once a year on Twin Day, traditionally held at the University of Novi Sad in June. Volunteers that are not able to travel to Novi Sad receive their certificates via postal service.
Certificate of volunteering in other Centre for Behavioral Genetics research
A certificate of volunteering at the Centre for Behavioral Genetics is awarded to every volunteer that made a continuous contribution to creating, conducting and popularizing scientific research. The Centre for Behavioral Genetics awards the certificates after a study is completed.
The Centre for Behavioral Genetics awards thank-you notes for the promotion of scientific research to every institution or association that actively promoted research, helped gather data, and popularized study results.
If you’re a volunteer at the Centre of Behavioral Genetics::
you are directly contributing to the development of medicine, genetics, biology, and psychology on a world-wide scale.
you become a part of the citizen science community which is rapidly growing on an international level.
you are up-to-date on all relevant information from the world of research focused on discovering inherited bases of behavior and how the environment we live in shapes the way we act.
Volunteering at the Centre for Behavioral Genetics means you get to participate in all promotional activities which have the goal of popularizing science in Serbia. You can learn more about the promotional activities of the Centre here..
You don’t have to be a scientist or live in Novi Sad to become a volunteer for the Centre for Behavioral Genetics. Your interest in science and your will to contribute are more than enough to sign up using this link. Once you sign up, you’ll receive basic information about the research and ways in which you can help from researchers at the Centre for Behavioral Genetics.
If you are interested in participating in the research on the population’s reaction to the Coronavirus pandemic and you want to be recognized as a volunteer at the Centre for Behavioral Genetics, you can sign up at this email address: cbg@ff.uns.ac.rs
Volunteers at this research share the information the Centre for Behavioral Genetics posts on social media every day. It is required to access the Centre for Behavioral Genetics’ page and share posts that are related to the research on Coronavirus pandemic reaction.
If you can, find participants to fill out a daily survey which takes only 2-3 minutes, and remind them to complete it until the state of emergency ends.
Feel free to suggest questions we could add to the survey if you want. Send your suggestion and explanation for your reasoning to this email address cbg@ff.uns.ac.rs
If you want to, you can participate in the promotion of the results. You can check out the results we got so far on this link. We will have a lot more data until the end of the study and the goal is to reach as many people as possible. You will receive the promotion plan additionally.
During the research, the Centre for Behavioral Genetics will award you a volunteer badge. If you share our posts on social media and recruit 10 participants, you will receive a certificate of volunteering. Your participants will have generated codes that prove you recruited them, which means their anonymity will be respected. You can email the codes to this address: cbg@ff.uns.ac.rs

If you know a pair of twins or the parents of twins, provide them with the basic information about the study.
If they’re interested in participation, get their contact information and send them to the Centre for Behavioral Genetics at this address: cbg@ff.uns.ac.rs
Our research team will send you a bronze volunteer badge for the contact information of the first pair of twins, a gold badge after the third, and if you collect contact information from 10 pairs of twins you’ll receive a certificate of volunteering.
Dear twins (or parents of twins), the first Twin Register in Serbia has been created, which conducts insightful research and organizes various activities for twins. If you sign up for the Register, you can participate in an online study, and if you’re able to even visit the Faculty of Philosophy in Novi Sad for more information.
This is not only a way to help the efforts of our scientists to discover how our genes and our environment influence behavior, but you also get an overview of your personality traits or an intelligence assessment. All participants can get a confirmation of DNA zygosity if they wish so. Twins receive our shirts and are invited to seminars organized for them. The University of Novi Sad holds a Twin Day once a year and this wonderful manifestation usually gets a lot of media coverage. All additional information can be found on the Twin Register’s website. If you want to join this unique action, all you need to do is sign up and send us your contact information.
